BOCONNOC ESTATE, LOSTWITHIEL
Amber and George tied the knot at the stunning Boconnoc Estate in Lostwithiel on Wednesday, 10th September 2025, and it was an absolute joy to photograph. Boconnoc is one of my favourite venues to shoot at; the manor house is beautiful, surrounded by acres of parkland, and the on-site church makes the whole day flow so effortlessly. Couples can marry in the church and then walk straight back to the manor house for their reception, which is always a winner.

When I arrived, I headed straight to the library and drawing room to find George with his Best Man, Groomsmen and his dad. They were already suited and ready for the ceremony, enjoying a few drinks to calm their nerves. It was a relaxed start to the day, and I took some natural portraits of George with his Best Man, his dad, his Groomsmen, and George’s mum too. With a few other family members around, we made the most of the beautiful light and elegant rooms for some timeless pre-ceremony shots.
Before long, I popped downstairs briefly to capture guests arriving, then headed up to see Amber. Her dress, by Enzoani at Pure Brides, was hanging beautifully in the bridal suite, and the final touches of hair by Hair From The Heart and makeup by Orchard Makeup were being finished. I photographed Amber’s mum helping her into the dress, tying up the back, and then took some lovely portraits of Amber standing by the window once she was ready.

One of the most touching moments of the morning was when Amber’s dad came in to see her for the first time. Both of them were clearly holding back tears, and his pride and happiness really came through in the photos. It was such a special, emotional moment to capture.

Once Amber was ready, I made my way across the grounds to the church and met George at the top of the aisle. Just before Amber arrived, a mix of nerves and excitement was written all over George’s face; he was definitely fighting back tears, and those emotions are some of my favourite moments to photograph. Amber walked into the church with her dad, smiling beautifully despite their emotions, and was met at the end of the aisle by George, his Best Man and her Bridesmaid. The church looked incredible, filled with stunning flowers by The Flower Shed Florist.

After a lovely ceremony, Amber and George exited the church straight into the rain. The weather wasn’t on our side for much of the day, but it didn’t dampen the mood at all. Amber’s bridesmaid helped lift her dress while George held an umbrella over them both as they walked back to the manor house. While guests were leaving the church, I quickly nipped into the dining room to photograph the table setup, which looked amazing and was again beautifully styled with flowers from Flower Shed Florist.

Once everyone was back at the house, the reception really got going. Alex Dobson from Alex Dobson Music provided acoustic music while guests enjoyed delicious canapés from Beetham Food. Thankfully, the rain eased off, giving us the chance to head outside for a confetti tunnel, group photos, and some relaxed couple portraits in front of the manor house.

Amber and George also had a bespoke wedding mirror, which made a gorgeous backdrop. I grabbed a few photos of Amber and her dress reflected in the mirror, which turned out beautifully. Not long after, it was time for the wedding breakfast. The happy couple made a grand entrance into the dining room before the speeches began.
Amber’s dad kicked things off, followed by George’s dad, and both speeches were hilarious. The room was full of laughter, giving me plenty of chances to capture guests’ reactions. George then took his turn, getting his dad back with a few cheeky comments, which had everyone laughing again.

Later, I took close-up photos of Amber and George’s rings before the rain finally cleared and the sun made an appearance. This created a second, relaxed gathering outside, which was lovely to capture. We also took some additional couple portraits on the stairs, back inside the house, before photographing the cake cutting (by Lisa’s Cake Art Cornwall). I then left the couple and their guests to party into the night.
