TRENYTHON MANOR, TYWARDREATH
Beth and Ashleigh were married on a gorgeous, sunny Autumnal day on Thursday, 25th September 2025 at the beautiful Trenython Manor, just outside Tywardreath on Cornwall’s south coast. If you’ve never been to Trenython Manor before, it’s a stunning country house hotel with beautiful gardens, elegant interiors and sea views in the distance. It really is one of those venues that has something special about it.
I’d actually met Beth and Ashleigh a year before their wedding when we headed to one of Cornwall’s south coast beaches for their pre-wedding shoot. We had such a brilliant time together, and by the end of the session, I already knew their wedding was going to be an absolute laugh. They’re the kind of couple who are always smiling, don’t take themselves too seriously and are just genuinely lovely to be around.
We arrived at Trenython Manor nice and early and headed upstairs to where Beth was getting ready with her bridesmaids, flower girls and page boys. The room was full of excitement from the moment we walked in. Beth’s beautiful gown from Lucy Hart Bridal was the first thing to photograph. We hung it up by the window before capturing a few lovely moments of Beth admiring it with her bridesmaids and flower girls. Those quiet moments before getting dressed are always some of my favourites.
Hair and make-up were looked after by the fantastic team at Ocean Waves, who somehow managed to keep everyone running to schedule despite having a very busy morning. The room was full of laughter, chatting and plenty of excitement while everyone was getting ready.
While all that was going on, I popped over to see Ashleigh, who was getting ready separately with one of her closest friends. It couldn’t have been more different. Just the two of them, a bottle of Prosecco, a quiet toast together, and a much calmer atmosphere before the day really got underway. I photographed Ashleigh’s Moss Bros suit, along with her jewellery and a few of the little keepsakes she’d chosen to wear.
Once Ashley was ready, we captured one of the most emotional moments of the morning as her dad came in for a first look. They shared a hug by the window, and it was one of those moments that needed no direction at all. Just genuine emotion. Looking back through the photographs afterwards, they were easily some of my favourites from the whole wedding. If you’re ever wondering whether to include a first look with a parent or someone close to you, I’d always say go for it. They’re such special moments to look back on.
The ceremony itself was full of emotion, too. Beth and Ashleigh have been together for years, so finally seeing them tie the knot was incredibly special for everyone there. One part of the ceremony that really stood out was their sand ceremony. They poured sand collected from some of their favourite beaches around Cornwall into a single glass jar, symbolising their lives coming together. It was such a personal touch and made for some beautiful photographs.
After the ceremony, we all ventured out into the sun for drinks and canapés after a confetti tunnel on the stairs. It was also at this time that I captured group shots and some fantastic couple shots outside the manor, as well as general shots of the dining room set up. The flowers and styling, created by Emily Rose Events, looked absolutely stunning throughout the venue. From the ceremony room to the cake, everything tied together perfectly.
After everyone had enjoyed the wedding breakfast, it was time for the speeches, and they certainly didn’t disappoint. There was a brilliant mix of heartfelt stories, embarrassing moments and plenty of laughter. Those genuine reactions around the room always make some of my favourite documentary photographs.
As the afternoon drifted into evening, we escaped for a little while and headed down to the beach below Trenython Manor for some couple portraits. The light couldn’t have been more perfect. The sun caught the back of Beth’s veil beautifully, creating the dreamiest golden glow. We captured some lovely natural moments as the two of them wandered along the beach together, with Beth dancing through the sand and the pair wrapped together beneath her veil as the evening sun disappeared behind them.
Back at the manor, the celebrations carried on in style. There was some wonderfully enthusiastic sea shanty singing, mainly led by Beth, I should add, with the band All For Jolly, which somehow turned into an impromptu dance party spilling through one of the side rooms and out towards the veranda. Nobody seemed too worried about who was blocking the walkway, and everyone was simply having a fantastic time stomping their feet!
Next came the cake cutting, which was anything but traditional. After cutting the cake, Beth and Ashleigh wasted no time shoving a slab into each other’s mouths, leaving everyone in stitches. Their first dance followed, accompanied by DJ Services Cornwall, whilst onlooking friends and family shouted and hollered from the sidelines.
To finish the evening, everyone gathered outside on the steps with sparklers. It made the perfect ending to an incredible day, and the photos from that final moment summed everything up perfectly.
