LAND’S END HOTEL, SENNEN

On Saturday, 8th June 2024, Charlotte and Ben tied the knot at the breathtaking Land’s End Hotel, and honestly, there couldn’t have been a more perfect setting. Perched right on the edge of Land’s End, the venue looks out over endless ocean, rugged rocks, distant lighthouse views and sweeping coastal scenery. Add in glorious sunshine all day long, and it truly was a dream wedding backdrop.

Kirsty and I arrived early to capture the morning’s build-up. With Charlotte and Ben getting ready in different parts of the hotel, we were able to document both sides of the excitement and the beautifully decorated ceremony room before guests arrived. Although the hotel handled much of the room styling, Charlotte and Ben had put so much heart into the details themselves, from personalised name cards and flowers to décor featuring photos from their pre-wedding shoot with me at Charlestown Beach with their children.

While I photographed Charlotte’s stunning wedding dress (from Wed2b) hanging in the window of her bridal suite overlooking the sea, Kirsty focused on the little details, such as the perfume, invitations, shoes and sentimental touches. The bridal room was full of laughter, 80s tunes and bridesmaids in silk gowns sipping prosecco, the perfect happy chaos of a wedding morning.

Meanwhile, I went to find Ben and the boys, who were getting ready. Spirits were just as high there, with matching suits, ties lined with personal photo prints of the family, and Ben helping his little lad get dressed, a lovely moment to capture. Everyone was relaxed, joking around and clearly ready for an incredible day.

Soon it was time for the ceremony. Guests gathered, the couple’s adorable King Charles Spaniel made an appearance, and first down the aisle were Charlotte and Ben’s children, instantly melting everyone’s hearts. Charlotte became emotional as she walked in, but her smile soon returned as their children happily wandered around playing while vows were exchanged, a beautifully real family moment.

After a joyful “dip kiss” in the aisle, the celebrations spilt outside into bright sunshine for the confetti tunnel, where guests enthusiastically showered them (with a few classic confetti-to-the-face moments!). Charlotte and Ben had a big group photo with the sea behind them before we explored the grounds, including the famous Land’s End sign, customised with their names and wedding date.

While guests enjoyed drinks in the sunshine, we photographed the wedding breakfast room, complete with Lego bride and groom cake toppers, instant prints from earlier in the day and amazing décor from The sensory Area,  including a retro Walkers crisp wall and pick-and-mix sweets which went down brilliantly.

Speeches were next, and they were anything but ordinary. With the Maid of Honour and Charlotte herself taking the mic, there was laughter all around. This was followed by the hilarious “Mr & Mrs Challenge”, complete with face masks of the bride and groom, with guests enthusiastically voting on who was the best cook and other playful questions.

We then jumped in a car with wedding co-ordinator Victoria and headed to Sennen Cove for some golden-hour beach photos. The light, the scenery and the relaxed joy between Charlotte and Ben made this part of the day truly magical. Back at the hotel, it was straight into cake cutting and first dance, before the dance floor filled, including an impressive effort from the Father of the Bride despite being in a knee brace!

As the sun began to set, we whisked Charlotte and Ben outside for some sunset portraits against the most beautiful painted sky. It couldn’t have been more perfect. Then it was back inside for more dancing, laughter and one final fun moment photographing the girls lifting Charlotte’s dress and waving glow sticks on the dance floor.

It was a day full of sunshine, emotion, laughter, and so many unforgettable moments. Charlotte and Ben, thank you so much for having me shoot your special day!
