Portreath pre-wedding shoot

Leah and Anthony

Leah and Anthony opted for Portreath beach for their pre-wedding shoot on a balmy summer’s day in Cornwall. They brought along their son Barney for some family portraits. However, the portraits quickly turned into some action shots of the whole family splashing each other in the shore break! After the soaking*, Leah’s mum was on hand to look after Barney whilst I took Leah and Anthony off for a walk. Our intrepid pair explored the caves and rocks to the left of the beach at low tide. After that their meanderings lead us over to the other side of the harbour by the cliffs. Consequently, the  few beached fishing boats made for a colourful backdrop for some smoochy cuddles!

Porthreath was once a busy port, importing coal and exporting copper. However, the harbour is now only home to a few fishing boats. Indeed, it is well worth taking a walk along the quayside to look at the perilous harbour mouth which ships once sailed through.

Gull Rock

On the left hand side, the beach has a small stream running down to the sea. A few hundred metres off the coast is the huge Gull Rock. This behemoth is as the name suggests: something of a haven for seabirds of all kinds.

The Bissoe Trail

Some of the old tram-roads, used for transporting ore from the mines, have been made into cycle paths. Therefore, it possible to cycle from Portreath on the north coast to Devoran on the south coast along The Bissoe Trail.
