POLHAWN FORT
Jay and Clay
Polhawn Fort is a historic dream location for a wedding, based on Rame Head, Torpoint. Built in 1862, this incredible fort features its own beach and has accommodation, so that your wedding tribe can stay the night after all the celebrations. A truly perfect, out-of-the-way location where Jay and Clay decided to tie the knot with their nearest and dearest on Thurs, 14th, March, 2024…
Having met the bride and groom-to-be at a wedding fair a couple of years ago, we hit it off immediately. Jay and Clay wanted Kirsty and I to be part of their special day, and keep a chilled and relaxed vibe whilst snapping friends and family. I think the wedding shots say it all – smiles, laughter and intimate moments – all captured together in a real natural way.
Capturing The Details
Kirsty and I arrived at the venue early doors to capture everyone getting ready. This part of any wedding day can be filled with anticipation, but the bride and groom seemed completely relaxed, making for some fantastic photos. We also captured all the small details from the wedding, such as the cake, sweet cart, favours and table plan.
It was a fairly intimate wedding ceremony with a registrar and around 50-60 guests, with more arriving later in the evening. And even though the weather was a mixed bag (isn’t it always here in the South West!), with the rain on and off all day, it didn’t slow us down. Out came the handy brollies, so that in between the showers we achieved the group shots outside, as well as the sparkler and couple photos at night.
A Funny Moment
One of the funniest memorable moments from the day was the Father of the Groom’s speech, when he recounted a story from Clay’s childhood. Apparently, the father once told Clay that there were crocodiles in Stithians Lake just to avoid getting his car seats wet if Clay went in for a swim! This fact was told by Clay for years… I wonder when the penny dropped? Not at the wedding surely?! 😀
As with any wedding, when you’re having a great time, time flies! We blinked and it was already the evening. Singer and DJ – Duncan Godfrey serenaded us all and got everyone up and dancing in front of the big light-up letters – a great backdrop for photos! What a day, Jay and Clay, you guys are fab and we loved being part of your special day. Thank you for having us!
