CHYCARA + TRELISSICK GARDENS
Karen and Adam
Karen and Adam tied the knot on a beautiful sunny Saturday, on the 20th of April this year, at Chycara in the beautiful Bissoe Valley. This is how the day went…
Did I mention already that it was a lovely sunny day for a wedding? Just wow! It was truly incredible weather. Karen got ready for her big day in the Bridal suite at the Greenbank Hotel in Falmouth, a room that overlooked the harbour, a perfect setting for wedding prep. And great for photos too! Karen’s hair was done perfectly by Melody Rose and her Make Up flawlessly by Hannah Symons.
We hung the wedding dress up on the window to get some detailed shots, and when the light shone through it, it was just stunning. Fun fact for you, this room – 101 Florence Suite – is aptly named after a very famous person who stayed there in 1907. This was none other than Florence Nightingale!
Once ready, Karen travelled from the Greenbank Hotel to Chycara in style, in an antique Rolls-Royce Princess. The ceremony was held in beautiful sunshine, in the lake’s arbour, surrounded by the happy couple’s friends and family. It was such a perfect day in the sun.
The confetti shots were great fun as always and came out wonderfully, and we got some brilliant group shots too. After all the official photos, we took the Rolls-Royce for a spin to Trelissick Gardens for some extra photos with just Karen and Adam.
Once we returned, afternoon tea was served by The Cornish Tea Party in the Chycara barn, followed by the speeches. Everything was very chilled and laid back, and guests afterwards enjoyed lawn games in the gardens, supplied by Cornwall Hire.
Whilst everyone was enjoying the games, we had a walk around the grounds in the gorgeous sunlight, and I introduced the odd smoke bomb or two to take photos of Karen and Adam with their friends from Spain. Smoke bombs always make for great photos! It was now time for the first dance, so we returned to the barn for Karen and Adam to take to the dance floor. The first dance was brilliant, played by a live band Electric Bandits – fronted by pianist – Jodie Mark – who had played at the ceremony earlier in the day.
Other fun evening highlights included a photo booth that everyone thoroughly enjoyed, also supplied by Cornwall Hire, as well as a yummy s’mores bar from Cornwall Entertainment. I also took it upon myself to use the couple’s wedding sunglasses – the classic heart-shaped ones with their names and the wedding date on – and get photos of all the guests wearing them.
The last thing I wanted to achieve before the end of the night was a sparkler tunnel outside the Chycara barn. This was great fun, and we created letters spelling out the word ‘love’ in the air with the couple standing in the middle of the ‘O’. Perfect!
Thank you so much for having me shoot your special day Karen and Adam, it was a pleasure! Here’s to everyone involved!
