Japanese Garden shoot

Lauren and Josh

Lauren and Josh opted for a Japanese Garden shoot for their pre-wedding pictures. On a stormy Cornish Sunday, I met these lovely humans in the carpark at Watergate bay for their pre-wedding shoot. As it turned out, conditions were somewhat inclement! Indeed, the wind was gusting to 40 mph plus and the rain lashing so hard that it was impossible to shoot on the beach as planned. Luckily I remembered that the Japanese Garden in the nearby village of St Mawgan was open. The Japanese Garden nestles in a sheltered valley a stones throw from Newquay airport. Most importantly, it is protected from the wind! As the website says, it is: Built as a meditative garden. Therefore, it is the perfect space where one can calm the mind and let go of unwanted stress through contemplation and reflection.

The Green

Now, Lauren and Josh are due to get married next year at The Green near Liskeard. Like many other couples they have had to postpone their wedding from 2020. However, this fact was not going to stop us having some fun during their pre-wedding shoot. The Japanese garden kindly leant us some umbrellas to keep the rain from spoiling our happy couple’s contemplation and meditation! Consequently, Lauren and Josh were able to appreciate the early autumnal hues of the garden on the cusp of seasonal change. At times, the storm seemed a million miles away. We left feeling energised and hopeful for the future thanks to this calm oasis of zen.
