Portreath Engagement shoot

Megan and Josh

Megan and Josh made this my second Portreath engagement shoot of 2020! We met on an autumnal Saturday in Cornwall. They brought along their toddler for some family photos. Indeed, everyone had fun playing in the sand and rockpools! Luckily, Megan’s mum was on hand to look after little miss whilst I took Megan and Josh off for a walk. Our lucky couple adventured around the caves and rocks which made for some striking images. This Portreath engagement shoot took a similar turn as the last as we headed to the other side of the harbour by the cliffs. Beneath the listless November skies our couple looked like a modern day Clark Gable and Scarlett O’Hara!

Porthreath was once a busy port, importing coal and exporting copper. However, the harbour is now only home to a few fishing boats. Indeed, it is well worth taking a walk along the quayside to look at the perilous harbour mouth which ships once sailed through.

Gull Rock

On the left hand side, the beach has a small stream running down to the sea. A few hundred metres off the coast is the huge Gull Rock. This behemoth is as the name suggests: something of a haven for seabirds of all kinds.

The Bissoe Trail

Some of the old tram-roads, used for transporting ore from the mines, have been made into cycle paths. Therefore, it possible to cycle from Portreath on the north coast to Devoran on the south coast along The Bissoe Trail.
